Safety routines
Windows and open doors
Every lesson room has a window in its door, or the door stays open.
Parents may sit in
A parent is welcome to sit in on any lesson, and the hall has a bench for waiting.
Who may collect a student
We hand a student only to the grown-ups on your pickup list, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Hearing care
Earplugs are in every room, and a teacher turns the volume down on request.

Family policies
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your student home with a fever or a stomach bug, and tell us by text or a call so we can offer the time to someone on the waitlist. A hand injury is worth a call too, so the teacher can plan a lesson without sticks.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for Thanksgiving week, over the winter holidays and for severe weather. We text families by early afternoon when weather closes the school, and a lesson we cancel is made up.
Drop-off and pickup
Parents of younger students walk them to the room and wait in the hall. We hand a student only to the grown-ups on the pickup list you give us, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Late pickup
Rehearsals end on time, and a student waits with a teacher at the front desk until a grown-up arrives. Please call if you are running late, so we know someone is on the way.
Watching class and recitals
A parent may sit in on any lesson, and we ask the parents of the youngest students to stay for the first lessons. Showcases are open to families and friends: arrive early, silence phones, and clap at the end of each piece.
Screens and phones
Phones stay in a pocket or a bag during a lesson and a rehearsal. A teacher may ask to record a passage so you can practice from it at home.
What to wear and bring
Wear what you can play in, with closed shoes for the kit. Showcase days are a clean dark shirt and trousers, nothing fancier.
Questions about how we work?
Ask at the front desk or at your trial lesson. We would rather you ask.
